Join us for an online event to explore the Respitality model and discuss how we can start co-designing it in Wales.
What is the event about?
All Wales Forum and partners are hosting a conversation on the Respitality model. The event will be held virtually in Powys, from 10:30am – 12pm on the 25th of November.
Attendees will learn more about Respitality, along with plans for the exploration of its co-design and co-delivery of the model in Powys, through the Caring Communities of Change project.
Who would we like to talk to?
We would like your input if you are –
– A parent or unpaid carer of a loved one with a learning disability
– A network professional working with or for people with a learning disability and their families
– A volunteer working with people with a learning disability and their families in the community
More about the event
All Wales Forum and partners are exploring the Respitality Model and other forms of alternative respite and short breaks in Powys for the benefit of learning disability family carers.
Respitality is a new model of respite that moves away from more traditional settings and looks at connecting carers to organisations within hospitality, tourism and leisure sectors for flexible alternative offers of short breaks and respite.
The All Wales Forum and partners have committed to co-designing this model in Powys for the benefit of learning disability family carers, and we would like to start a conversation with attendees about what are the practical steps we could all take to start co-designing this model in the region and other areas of Wales.
During this event, you will be introduced to Respitality and how it works. You will find out how Scotland have created a social franchise and put this model of respite into practice and you will be given an update on a review of how respite is currently working in Wales. We will spend some time in smaller groups to explore your thoughts on this model and what would be needed for this to be successful for you and your family.
